The Great Room is home to our older children. This room offers a little more structure and challenge for our more developmentally advanced students  (4’s & 5’s). The Great Room features an elevated dramatic play loft (decorated and equipped according to the classrooms changing curriculum themes); a Language Arts Area with a computer, listening station, writing desk & library.  There is a huge Block Area with every building accessory imaginable and no limit to architectural genius.  The Science/Nature & Discovery Center also features a sand/water table for sensory exploration.  The Arts & Crafts Center produces impressive projects, creations and outright masterpieces.  There is also an area for table toys, games, puzzles and small motor manipulatives.  Children in this room are preparing for kindergarten and use an activity board to help them rotate through the centers.  They also practice calendar and weather skills at circle time, just as they will be expected to do in elementary school. Their preschool experience at Herring Brook culminates with a formal graduation ceremony and celebration, as we bid them farewell, TOTALLY PREPARED FOR KINDERGARTEN!

The Lead teacher in the Great Room is Ms. Mary, and Ms. Laurie is her co-teacher.  This room can take up to 20 children with two teachers.
